Bokashi Bran
Lukbanan Urban Integrated Natural Farm Trece Martires, Cavite →Bokashi Bran is an organic, nutrient-rich soil amendment and inoculant used primarily in composting and organic farming. It is made by fermenting a carrier material—traditionally wheat bran, rice bran, or sawdust—with a blend of beneficial microorganisms known as Effective Microorganisms (EM). Key Characteristics & Uses Microbial Inoculant: It introduces lactic acid bacteria, yeasts, and photosynthetic bacteria that rapidly break down organic matter anaerobically (without oxygen). Odor Control: When added to food waste, animal manure, or compost piles, Bokashi bran prevents putrefaction and neutralizes foul odors by suppressing rotting bacteria. Nutrient Preservation: Unlike traditional hot composting where nutrients often gas off, the fermentation process locks in vital nutrients like nitrogen, making the resulting compost exceptionally fertile for plant growth. Soil & Crop Health: Once fermented waste or the bran itself is incorporated into the soil, it stimulates native soil microbial activity, improves soil structure, and helps suppress soil-borne plant pathogens
